Longtime MVB Fonts friend Gayle Sato has amazing songwriting. It is a natural, simple writing, with the perfect rhythm. Devoid of frills, it does not seek to be beautiful. It is simply authentic, fast and clean; the handwriting we all wish we had. Mark van Bronkhorst’s digitization captures these qualities. Retaining the roughness of a marker, MVB Calliope is a much more authentic typeface than most, highly readable yet still raw. The Regular was released in 2005, with the other weights shortly after.
