Hint Font Family is a versatile geometric sans serif, effortlessly blending functionality with a subtle touch of ‘quiet luxury’. It works equally well in branding, bold headlines, and long-form text.

In its default version, Hint is perfect when you need a reliable, high-quality geometric grotesque without unnecessary embellishments. The font is artistically balanced, pragmatic, and evenly rhythmic, with a broad selection of weights and numerous useful OpenType features. If you need to add some flair or expressiveness, you can always enable stylistic sets to transform the font, allowing it to convey a wide range of moods.

Hint consists of 18 styles: eight upright weights, ranging from thin to extra bold, eight corresponding italics, and two variable fonts. Each style contains over 1500+ characters and more than 35+ OpenType features. The font supports more than 200 languages, including extended Latin and Cyrillic.

The character set includes small caps, arrows, numbers in circles, numerous bullets, and various figure sets—proportional, tabular, old-style, small caps, fractional, index, outline, and black-circle numbers. Non-alphabetic characters such as quotation marks, dashes, colons, and bullets adjust their shape automatically depending on whether they are next to lowercase or uppercase letters.

Hint also features alternate characters organized into stylistic sets. These sets range from the common alternatives like a rounded “a” or “a with a tail” to a set of super-closed round letters, giving the typeface a modern twist reminiscent of late 19th and early 20th-century grotesques. The presence of diverse stylistic sets allows you to inject character into the typeface and transform it from neutral to expressive in a moment.

Here are some notable stylistic sets:

• Stylistic Set 01: Changes the two-part lowercase “a” to a single-part version, common in geometric grotesques of the 1920s, like Futura PT. This change makes the text look more concise and detached.

• Stylistic Set 02: Modifies the lowercase and uppercase “Kk” by adding a horizontal bar in the middle, which balances the letter at small sizes and aligns with the default design.

• Stylistic Set 03: Closes rounded letters (Cc, Gg, Ss, and the like.), similar to older grotesques from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The closing of rounded letters dramatically changes the character, making the font more distinctive and even bold.

• Stylistic Set 05: Alters the lowercase “g” to create a more bookish and relaxed appearance.

• Stylistic Set 06: Changes the letters “K,” “M,” “R,” and “W,” giving them a modern reinterpretation of the old grotesque graphic style.

• Stylistic Set 09: Modifies the shape of “f” to create a more fluid flow when the letter follows tall letters like “k,” “i,” and others.

• Stylistic Set 10: Changes the “y” from a triangular shape to a rounded one, giving it a softer, handwritten feel.

• Swash feature: Additionally, the default “a” and the “a” from SS03 both have alternative forms with a “tail.” This form makes the typeface less sleek and more human, while the closed version with a “tail” gives Hint an old grotesque flair.

Hint varies in weight from Thin to Extra Bold and has a variable format. The character set includes extended Latin and Cyrillic, small caps, different sets of numbers (proportional and tabular, old style and small capital ones, fractional and index), arrows, numbers in circles and various bullets. The typeface was designed by Alexandra Korolkova, Nikolay Nedashkovsky and Isabella Chaeva. It was released by Paratype in 2024.
