The uncial (latin for “inch”) is a calligraphic style penmanship that is normally written with a flat tip pen. It is mainly seen with ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts. Most uncial is written using only the x-height for a letter with very few extenders or descenders. I have designed Fingerbreadth with the traditional uncial in mind but created a modern translation with the beloved pointed pen. The result is a beautiful, delicate and classic font.
