Crescendo is the sans-serif counterpart to ouverture, translating its retro-futuristic elegance into a smooth, geometric voice. while ouverture draws from late-90s video games, japanese anime, and the stylized revival of old-style serifs, crescendo distills that same energy into clean lines and art deco–inspired proportions, echoing the decorative sans serifs of the 1970s and the iconic lettering spirit of herb lubalin. losing the serif shapes of ouverture does not mean losing personality.
Crescendo retains the family’s shape-shifting versatility through its condensed structure, crafted to balance nostalgia and modernity. its geometry is sharper, its rhythm more streamlined. The family is structured into three optical sub-systems: crescendo normal, which preserves the core balance between round and more condensed forms; crescendo display, where this contrast is intensified for maximum expressive impact and uppercase-only applications; and crescendo text, which introduces lowercase and softens the overall contrast to ensure optimal readability while maintaining the family’s distinctive character.
